Burton Albion defender Jake Buxton will make a decision on his future in the summer.
The 33-year-old is out of contract with the League One side at the end of the season, as per a report by Derbyshire Live.
Buxton has played 24 games in all competitions for Nigel Clough’s side in this campaign and is currently enjoying a run in the starting eleven.
The experienced defender has said, as per Derbyshire Live: “I had a little time out of the side before Christmas, and you are thinking about it, ‘am I coming to an end, is it slowing up? But after Christmas I have knuckled down, I’ve got back in the side and found a new lease of life.
“I’ve been performing okay, the points have been coming and we’ve had a little bit of luck. So I’ll just continue and see where it leads come the summer”.
He added: “Before Christmas I wasn’t performing to the best of my ability. It was more myself questioning myself, seeing if I wanted to carry on or not”
“As it has happened, I think I’ve probably taken the pressure off myself, the performances have kicked on and I’m playing okay. It’s up to me now to continue that to the summer, and then I will make a decision in the summer on what my future holds”.
Buxton is a vastly experienced centre-back in the Football League and has played over 400 games in his career after spells at Mansfield Town, Derby County and Wigan Athletic.
