Lee Bowyer provides Charlton Athletic injury latest

Charlton Athletic manager Lee Bowyer has confirmed that George Lapslie will not be available for selection in this weekend’s clash with Wigan Athletic after picking up a hamstring injury on Tuesday, which is set to keep him out of action for a “couple of weeks”.

Charlton Athletic will be without George Lapslie and Adam Matthews ahead of this weekend’s game against Wigan Athletic. Lewis Page is continuing his return from a long-term injury but in more positive news, Jason Pearce is expected to overcome a niggle in time.

Manager Lee Bowyer spoke to News Shopper to provide the latest, saying:

“George (Lapslie) hurt his hamstring on Tuesday.  He’s going to be out for a couple of weeks.

“(Jason) Pearce has a little bit of tightness but he’ll be ok, he won’t train today (Thursday) but he’ll be OK for Friday. Apart from that, everyone’s ok.”

Meanwhile, defender Lewis Page – who has been on the sidelines for some time now – is starting his comeback after a long-term injury lay-off. He will continue to get more minutes under his belt before coming back into the first-team picture.

“He’ll have another game on Monday for the under23s away to Ipswich and then start coming in with us,” Bowyer said.

“Once he plays that he’ll be in and around the squad for the next game, but the weekend’s too soon, he has to be ready, every game we play is tough against good wingers, so he has to be ready when we need him.”
