John Mousinho: Portsmouth manager relishing 'special' chance to win title at Fratton Park

Portsmouth manager John Mousinho says it would be a "special occasion" if his side can win the League One title at home to Barnsley on Tuesday night.

A draw would be enough to secure promotion to the Championship after a 12-year absence, while the club are two points from the title.

Saturday's 1-1 draw at third-placed Bolton meant Pompey had to delay their promotion celebrations.

"The chance to do it at home would be a big thing for the club," said Mousinho.

The 37-year-old was named League One manager of the season on Sunday night at the English Football League (EFL) awards, after keeping Portsmouth top of the division for more than 200 days.

"We still have a lot of work to do though against a really good Barnsley side," he added.

"If we manage to do it at home, especially on a Tuesday night under the lights at Fratton Park then it will be a special occasion."

Neill Collins' Barnsley are fifth in the table and have the second-best League One away record this season with 12 victories, while Pompey have only lost at home twice.

Portsmouth are five points ahead of second-placed Derby County with a game in hand. If Mousinho's side fail to pick up points on Tuesday they could still seal promotion in their final two matches, at home to Wigan before ending the season at Lincoln.
